Fall Statistics in Michigan

Research has identified many risk factors that contribute to falling. They can include safety hazards, certain medications, having a chronic health condition, and vision impairment.

During 2021, 1,367 older adults (86 per 100,000 older adults) died from a fall injury in Michigan.

In Michigan in 2021, there were 17,813 fall-related hospitalizations and

72,115 fall-related emergency

department visits among older adults where they were treated

and released.
